Sam is an experienced interventional cardiologist with an interest in coronary artery interventions (stenting), non-invasive coronary angiographic (cardiac CT) and the management of valvular heart disease. At Ashford Cardiac Clinic, Sam works closely with patients through initial diagnostic tests, treatment, and cardiac procedures
Sam has a strong focus in cardiac research and innovation with a passion for improving patient experience and outcomes. He supervises PhD students through Flinders University, where he holds the title of Associate Professor. Sam has been a principal investigator of over 25 international clinical trials of cardiovascular therapies and published original scientific work in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Medical Journal of Australia, and American Journal of Medicine.
Outside of his work with Ashford Cardiac Clinic and Flinders University, Sam is the director of the Acute Coronary Service at Flinders Medical Centre and performs cardiac interventions at Flinders Medical Centre and Flinders Private Hospital. Sam has completed fellowships at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, and Monash Medical Centre in Melbourne.
Dr Cameron Singleton’s expertise is in the full range of cardiac electrophysiology procedures including catheter ablation for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, ventricular tachycardia and supraventricular…
…tachycardia. He also has an interest in diagnostic electrophysiology studies, as well as cardiac rhythm device implantation including cardiac resynchronisation (bi-ventricular) devices, ICDs, permanent pacemakers and implantable loop recorders.
Dr Singleton graduated with MBBS from the University of Adelaide in 1991. He did his training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and St Vincent‟s Hospital, Sydney. Dr Singleton obtained Doctor of Medicine at the University of New South Wales studying cardiac ion channels which are fundamental to all cardiac arrhythmias, but of particular relevance to genetic abnormalities which predispose to cardiac arrhythmias such as the Brugada syndrome and the Long QT syndromes. Dr Singleton was a fellow in Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, before returning to Adelaide in 2000 to take up the position of Cardiologist (Electrophysiology) at Flinders Medical Centre, SA.
Dr Singleton is 0.6 FTE staff specialist at Flinders Medical Centre, and conducts private practice on the Flinders Campus, at the Ashford Cardiac Clinic and Ashford Hospital.
Dr Andrew Markwick is a Consultant Cardiologist with a particular interest in coronary intervention. Andrew graduated from the University of Adelaide in 2004 before completing physician and cardiology specialist training at Flinders Medical Centre.
In 2012 Andrew moved to the United Kingdom to complete a 3-year fellowship at the Royal Stoke University Hospital. During this time, he has developed an extensive experience of invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures using modern radial techniques. Andrew has continued training with accreditation in CT coronary angiogram. In addition, Andrew continues to be interested in clinical cardiology including valvular heart disease, ischaemic heart disease, and country health, providing services to the Southern Fleurieu, Loxton and the Southeast.
Based in Adelaide at Ashford Cardiac Clinic, Andrew also consults at Aldinga and Port Adelaide. Andrew has admitting rights to Calvary Adelaide and Ashford Hospitals and strong links to Flinders Medical Centre.

…electrophysiology at Flinders Medical Centre. Apart from general cardiology, his areas of expertise is in the assessment and management of cardiac arrhythmias and syncope as well as implantation of all types of pacemakers used in the management of bradycardia, tachycardia, and heart failure.
He also has expertise in performing simple and complex electrophysiological studies and radiofrequency ablation for the management of cardiac arrhythmias.
Dr Chahadi is a staff specialist at Flinders Medical Centre. He is well-published and is actively involved in national and international research and clinical trials.
Sanaz is passionate and highly experienced in various areas of Sleep Medicine. At Ashford Sleep clinic, Sanaz consults with patients prior to any tests being performed. Sanaz believes that the best results can be achieved where the patient is both comfortable and has access to quality medical care. To ensure this, Sanaz offers diagnostic sleep studies in the comfort of the patient’s own home and oversees the process from set up to scoring and reporting of the studies.
Post sleep study, Sanaz provides patients recommendations and treatment management that is best suited to their needs, personally supervising the appropriate therapy to ensure the best outcome for the patient.
Outside of her work with the Ashford Sleep clinic, Sanaz is a consultant physician in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Consulting in both general respiratory and sleep medicine, Sanaz offers both inpatient and outpatient consults, trains junior doctors and is involved in research.
Dr Sanaz’s journey in Sleep Medicine started in 2000 when she completed her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery locally at Adelaide University with her internship and basic physician training placement at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. Sanaz then trained as a Respiratory and Sleep Physician at Flinders Medical Centre and Repatriation Hospital. She joined the Royal Melbourne Hospital Respiratory and Sleep unit for one year to complete her core sleep training while practising as a Sleep and Respiratory Physician.
In 2007, Sanaz’s hard work and research into Sleep Medicine culminated in her being granted a Fellowship year at Harvard School of Medicine, where she published original scientific work in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr Andrew Russell is specialist in ultrasound for the heart (echocardiography). He performs stress echocardiography at the clinic.
Andrew is a University of Adelaide graduate and has had 40 years of medical training and experience. After an internship at the royal Adelaide Hospital be completed his basic training at The Queen Elisabeth Hospital and finished his training within in the Cardiology departments at Flinders Medical Centre and the Repatriation General Hospital.
He has had extensive training and experience in cardiac ultrasound at all levels and in the diagnosis and management of hypertension and heart failure.
He was the final head of the Veterans Heart Clinic and Cardiology service at the Repatriation General Hospital. He is currently a Senior Consultant within Cardiology at the Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Cardiac Clinic, being a part of the heart failure and imaging teams.
Andrew is a past Chair of the RACP SA State Committee. He currently an AMA SA Council member and on the AMA Council of Public Hospital Doctors as well as Chair of some SALHN committees.
Tam is an experienced Cardiac Physiologist with more than 20 years’ experience in cardiac diagnostics. Tam completed his graduate Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (Cardiology) in 2003 with a demonstrated history of working in private practice and Hospital settings.
Tam’s special interest is in adult structural and valvular heart disease and is skilled in Echocardiography, ECG and other cardiac diagnostic testing. He is passionate about using his knowledge to help diagnose patients cardiac related symptoms and ensures that the patient feels comfortable and at ease while in his care. Tam has been the department manager of the Ashford Cardiac Clinic diagnostic team since 2010 and leads a team of very experienced and skilled senior cardiac physiologists. Tam is registered with the Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR).
Emma is a qualified and highly experienced Cardiac Physiologist who joined Ashford Cardiac Clinic in 2011. She has over 20 years experience in Cardiology, specialising in Adult Echocardiography.
Having graduated from University of South Australia with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Science in 1998, Emma commenced training as a cardiac sonographer, completing her Diploma in Medical Ultrasound (Cardiac) in 2003.
She has experience in both public and private practice, and has worked in various hospital settings, here in South Australia and the United Kingdom.
David is a qualified Cardiac Physiologist and has worked in the field of Echocardiography for over twenty years. David completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) with Physiology major in 1999 before commencing training as a cardiac sonographer at Adelaide Cardiology and completing a Diploma of Medical Ultrasound (DMU – Cardiac) in 2004.
He spent time working in the UK, predominantly at St. George’s Hospital in London, before training in paediatric cardiac sonography at both Great Ormond Street and Evelina Children’s Hospitals before returning to Adelaide to positions at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre.
He continues his role part time at the Women’s & Children’s Hospital and has now been working as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist at Ashford Cardiac Clinic for over 8 years.
